Some activities which are specifically age restricted to 15+ include walking safaris and canoe safaris. On the very odd occasion we've arranged one of these activities for younger children (including our own children). We use a specific guide and are limited to certain camps and locations however. Certain activities are strictly not permissible for youngsters at all which would generally include the adrenalin activities like bunji jumping, white water rafting and abseiling at Victoria Falls.
Almost without exception African locals love children and relish nothing better than showing the secrets of the wide outdoors to youngsters. Children often change character in the bush. Read about the Sullivan Family safari.
Like being introduced to a new plant on day 1 and then being able to identify it botanically and list it's tribal uses verbatim on next sighting in completely new terrain several days later.... (to the parents the second sighting was just another amazing vegetable)!

The cost is per person per night, an overnight stay is necessary to take part in the large carnivore tracking activity.
We suggest visiting Okonjima, essentially a rehabilitation centre, if you'd like to see big cats close-up, support the rescue programme and track big predators in the 4500 hectare rehabilitation park. This is a very worthy programme to support. Highlights include seeing wild leopards close-up, hunting for themselves and a 90% chance of seeing spotted hyena in the wild. Tea with the lions and excellent opportunities for photography.

Walking with camels in the Wild

Of all our trips this is one of our favorite walking safaris. The walk is led by professional guides, fly camping under the stars with camels carrying the camp. The safari is extremely suitable for families as children can ride on the camels when their feet get tired! It is also an ideal way to really learn about the bush from the ground up ... The Zambia Explorer uses camps which are extremely comfortable, small and intimate and all with en suite bathroom with hot and cold running water. On the walks, which are taken at a slow pace (not an army route march), there are porters who carry refreshments and any extra equipment you may wish to take. The drives are in open four wheel drive vehicles, with 3 tier seats for uninhibited viewing, and no more than 6 people are taken at a time to avoid discomfort in the vehicle. Boating, Canoeing and fishing on the lower Zambezi is available as a morning or afternoon excursion - the choice is yours!
Best of Kenya

Our "pick" of our Kenya safaris because it covers the three best game viewing areas; you will most likely see the Big Five, the little Five and much more besides. You will also see Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Kenya and much of the Kenyan countryside from the air including the spectacular sight of the Rift Valley escarpment.
With just a little extra cost and planning, this safari is easily converted into a dedicated riding safari for the novice or the experienced rider and can include full or half day rides on any of the days at Chyulu Hills or on the Laikipia.
